Do you work? (I know for some that's a complicated question, and yes SAHM is a job)

How many jobs have you had?

Do you enjoy what you are doing at the moment?

If you could have any job what would you do?

Anything else you would like to share about your work?

Do you work?

Not outside of the house - I'm a SAHW and have been for a few years now.

So yes, I work, doing all the things that usually have to be done after work and on weekends, so my husband and I can relax and enjoy ourselves on his off-time :)

How many jobs have you had?

My first job was working at the church rectory when I was in high school. I did a couple of years in retail during college, and then my first job out of college was as a receptionist in a condominium office. From there I stayed in property management, eventually becoming a manager, and I was at... let's see, 3 additional jobs in that line of work.

Then I went back to school for a programming degree, during which I worked as an admin, and then as an office manager until I graduated. My last job was doing technical writing, but it was pretty short-lived, as the company was absolutely horrible in its culture and environment.

Somewhere in the early years was 3 months at a bank. I don't count that :) So I think that all comes to 10 jobs/employers?

Do you enjoy what you are doing at the moment?

Very much. I love being able to support my husband and allow us to enjoy our life together when he's not working.

If you could have any job what would you do?

I love dogs and could see myself running a dog rescue, if I had enough land to give them a good home while they wait for adoption.

Do you work? (I know for some that's a complicated question, and yes SAHM is a job)
I do. Part time at a music store, part time private instructor, part time movie theatre and full time wife to the husband.

How many jobs have you had?
This is hard to answer. 7, I guess, though I worked at one establishment under three different entities (I was hired from a temp agency to a placement agency to the actual business). Before all that I do now, I was a housekeeper in high school, worked at Cold Stone Creamery, a copy business (for a whopping two months) and a finance office.

Do you enjoy what you are doing at the moment?
All of it. 100% yes. Initially planned on being a SAHM but I will keep my music store job and keep a few students on when we are parents because I love them both.

If you could have any job what would you do?
What I'm doing. If I also happened to be a famous composer, that wouldn't be the end of the world ;).

Do you work? (I know for some that's a complicated question, and yes SAHM is a job)
I'm a SAHM to a 2 year old boy.

How many jobs have you had?
Several. My first real job was 16 years old working at Walgreens, mostly in the photo development lab, for 3 years. Then I got a job at an independent photography store and film development lab. After that I worked at another drug store (similar to Walgreens though much smaller chain), leading the photo department, until that location closed (and not long after the entire mall it was in closed). I worked Christmas help at a discount department store (like Walmart/Target/Kmart) until I got my last paid job, which was as a bank teller. I was a teller for 4 years and quit to finish a college degree (which working a day job made that difficult). Of course, I graduated when the economy tanked and couldn't find a paying post-college job. So, I volunteered as the history curator's assistant at my hometown's museum, which I enjoyed. (I was offered a part-time job at the museum and thisclose to a job offer at a big insurance company that has headquarters just outside my hometown, but I had just become engaged to my now-husband. Funny how timing worked out.) Too much? I thinking I'm clinging to the glory days of paid work.

Do you enjoy what you are doing at the moment?
Not really. I don't have the personality, talent, or patience for domesticity, but good child care is just too expensive. My husband has told me that I can get a paid job and put our son in daycare if I want to, but it'd cost more than I'd probably make, especially with additional transportation costs that'd come with me working outside the home.

If you could have any job what would you do?
Realistically? I think I'd like to get into medical office work, like insurance processing/billing. Or some kind of research job. Or if in China, teach English. Dreaming? I think I'd like to write for a living. Or maybe be the person to decide what books get published and what tv shows get aired.

Anything else you would like to share about your work?
I feel a tiny bit guilty that I don't find being a SAHM blissful because so many people say that they feel forced to work outside the home and how blessed I am. (Though how they* pay for child care, without subsidies or family helping, I don't know.) However, I've learned as a parent, someone will always think you fail in some way, so I mostly shake off the guilt. *They being the average worker who does not make a boatload of money.

Do you work?
Yep, I'm a SAHM

How many jobs have you had?
3 others outside of staying home

Do you enjoy what you are doing at the moment?
Yes, I love it!

If you could have any job what would you do?
I love being a SAHM but I would love to have a bakery.

Anything else you would like to share about your work?
I think it's definitely not for everyone but it was one of my dreams growing up.

Do you work? Yes, I went back to work this year

How many jobs have you had? I had various things in high school and college. After college I taught for 10 years- 3 years in 2nd grade, 1and a half years as a Kindergarten Reading Teacher (which I loved, but had to be repositioned because the budget for the program was cut :(, and 5 and a half years as a 1st grade teacher), I've subbed in all different grades. After marriage I stayed at home and just sold things off ebay and Etsy- vintage clothing and bags and things I sewed.

Do you enjoy what you are doing at the moment? Not at all. I love the teaching aspect and work really well at planning lessons and making learning interesting for the ages I teach; but I am fed up with the system, lack of support, "fix everything" mentality, "testing is king" mentality, "administration are gods never to be questioned mentality", and the bad work environment that I am in at the moment. I love kids, but I really want to focus on my own kids at this point in life. And I think I can help children and love children even if I am not in a teaching environment.

If you could have any job what would you do? SAHM and doing side jobs. I would really love to pursue graphic arts and photography as well as flipping or up cycling furniture for resale.

Anything else you would like to share about your work? I have to be creative. I think one of the reasons why teaching is so unsatisfying to me is that teachers are expected to teach the same way, with the same programs, and to be creative in the same way ( is that redundant to anyone else?), or else you are really vilified. There is a lot wrong with that. I also think I am an excellent teacher and that data and personal relationships prove that time and time again. I think there is sort of a myth out there that if you are a teacher that wants to quit , you are a "bad teacher". I don't believe that to be true. More often than not, they are exceptional teachers and it's sad to me. I think more should be done to keep the good ones. I see so much wrong in this profession that it hurts my heart. I gave a lot of my life and time to this, but I am okay with never teaching again.

I work part time for Hallmark. I maintain the HMK department at a large local grocery store. I do all the day to day stuff as well as change out seasons and holidays. It's a really fun job, though there are some things that are annoying -like the handheld scanner I have to use which does not have accurate up-to-date data on it, which is really ridiculous for a 20th century computer.

I've only had a handful of jobs. Before this one I did the same work for a different employer. I was a sahm when the kids were small. Before that for 10 years I worked at a large local furniture/appliance/electronics store in the accounts payable department. It was a comfortable job, but I really was not cut out for it. Math and talking on the phone? Blah.

If I could have any job? A couple things I think I could do realistically. One is selling handmade craft items on etsy (or some place like that), and the other thing is training dogs, though I need to do more learning myself before I could seriously train other people and dogs.

Do you work? (I know for some that's a complicated question, and yes SAHM is a job)
Yes. I am the administrative coordinator as a research center in DC.

How many jobs have you had?
Including my paper route that I started at age 11, six jobs total. At sixteen, I got my first real job at a shoe store, where I stayed for two and a half years. Then I spent six months as a sales rep for ADT Security. That wasn't going well, so I took the first out I could and resigned after six months. Got a job as a secretary for a small family owned business where I stayed until my hours got cut (it was a seasonal business so there was not much money coming in during the winter months) and then got a job as an office assistant at another small business. I stayed there for five years, getting two college degrees in that time and then got this job in hopes of inching my way into a research career while in grad school.

Do you enjoy what you are doing at the moment?
It is not what I want to do for the rest of my life, but I do like it. I want to be a social science researcher, which is what the organization does, but I'm just in admin support. I don't get to do any of the fun stuff, lol. This job has definitely been a step in the right direction though. I've been able to get my feet wet a little with some minor research-y tasks and have become familiar with the industry and the inside of a research organization. So I have been really blessed.

If you could have any job what would you do?
Hopefully what I will be someday: a social science researcher. I would like to work for a non-profit organization studying the causes and consequences of poverty and inequality, researching public policies and/or social programs aimed at alleviating those things.

Anything else you would like to share about your work?
A lot of my future career path will be determined by what direction my studies take me in grad school. I am currently in the midst of applying to several different schools. Hopefully, by this August I will be a full-time PhD student. :)

Do you work? I am a full-time high school English teacher; I teach English 11 regular, AP Language and Composition, and SAT Prep.
I also coach travel volleyball part-time and am the English department chair, which is LITERALLY a part-time job in and of itself. Totally not worth the $1000 stipend.

How many jobs have you had? Lots, I think, for still being in my mid-twenties. Waitressing, babysitting, housekeeping, coaching, refereeing volleyball (which is surprisingly good money, but it's not as fun as coaching), subbing, tutoring, making lattes at Barnes and Noble (loved that job- half off drinks from the cafe? Hecks yeah!).

Do you enjoy what you are doing at the moment?
No. I was literally at school for 12.5 hours today and am STILL way behind. When I try to have work-life balance, I end up feeling MORE stressed because I get so behind at work.

I love teaching, and I love coaching.
I do not love pre-assessing, providing explicit instruction, post-assessing, analyzing data, creating remediation plans, and being blamed for the failures of students who are literally reading three or four grades below grade level, kids who have never passed a state test in their life. I do not love the multiple meetings per week and the insane pressure to get scores up. I hate that.

I love my kids.
I love my co-workers.
But I'm seriously considering quitting once DH graduates from pharmacy school and gets a job this summer.

If you could have any job what would you do?
Be a reading specialist or literacy coach and assistant coach either travel or college volleyball.
Write book reviews for a living.

Anything else you would like to share about your work?
If you know a teacher IRL, please take a second to write them a quick note of appreciation. Most of them are probably trying very hard to balance everything going on and are probably sad, as I am, that they can't give their students more creative lessons or individualized attention.

Do you work? (I know for some that's a complicated question, and yes SAHM is a job)

Yes. I'm the CEO and COO of this household. (I dislike when ppl refer to it as that:-P)

How many jobs have you had?

4. I started working in college.

Do you enjoy what you are doing at the moment?

I miss working outside the home. This may shock you but I'm not the total motherly type:-P

If you could have any job what would you do?

I'd be a brain or heart surgeon in a heart beat. (No pun intended). Or a professional traveler.

Anything else you would like to share about your work?

my favorite job was "meeting and events planning". Helping ppl plan their weddings or engagement parties was a lot of fun:-)

Do you work?
Yes, although I don't technically have a 'job' as such. I volunteer for a charity that supports vulnerable families from the local area, providing social and emotional support as well as parenting courses.

How many jobs have you had?
I've only really had one job. I worked in a nursery for a few months. I enjoyed the work, but the staff didn't like me and it was so far to travel, so I quit as soon as my husband got a job. I suppose I did the cliché thing of going from my father's house, to my uni house, to my husband's house.

Do you enjoy what you are doing at the moment?
I do. It can be difficult at times, it's pretty intense. But I can't imagine anything better to be doing with my time.

If you could have any job what would you do?
What I do now is basically my ideal job. Though I would love to be a SAHM at some point in the future.

Most of you are elaborating so much more than I am! I'm usually answering these questions while feeding the baby and most of the time, from my phone.

Do you work? (I know for some that's a complicated question, and yes SAHM is a job)

I have a number of different roles
I have a small craft business. I make fused glass, work with resin, do a bit of decoupage and other things that come into my crazy head!
I'm also a housewife and deal with all the household business as DH is away so often
Then there is my church work. I'm one of the main leaders of the church and am trying to be a 'reader'. In the Church of England that is a liscenced member of the church who leads, preaches and teaches. It's hard work but I enjoy it and truly feel I'm where God wants me to be right now.

How many jobs have you had?

At the last count I've had 13 paid jobs lasting from temp work for a month to perm jobs for a couple years. I've Had 2 retail jobs, one selling school uniforms and the other in a Christian book shop. The others have been in general admin or financial admin. My favourite job was finance officer for a company who were contracted to Hampshire Council. That job was going really well, I was really growing in my career until I had to quit and move home due to mental illness 😔

Do you enjoy what you are doing at the moment?

I do enjoy what I do. Getting a balance on it all is hard but I love it all in different ways!

If you could have any job what would you do?

Right now I'm pretty OK with what I'm doing. It's a good balance of in the church and in the world!

Anything else you would like to share about your work?

My church work can be challenging at times but I LOVE working for the Lord, to better his Kingdom on earth and I'm really looking forward to working with our new vicar, he's a breath of fresh air

Do you work?

Yes. I'm a nurse. :)

How many jobs have you had?

This might get long winded...
Within the NHS I had 3 jobs, all of them in various surgical specialties. I also did bank nursing while doing these jobs then later on went to doing bank full time. I moved around a lot with that and got a good deal of experience in other areas. It also taught me that being a medical nurse is not my thing. Surgical is where I belong!

Last year I got a job working for a private company doing health assessments.

Do you enjoy what you are doing at the moment?

Most of the time. It's better in that I have no shifts and the people are nicer. The environment is calmer (generally) and a lot less stressful. Ideally I'd like to move away from nursing altogether and that's my longer term goal.

If you could have any job what would you do?

Conservation or somethin animal or nature related.

Do you work? (I know for some that's a complicated question, and yes SAHM is a job) Yes, I work at a non-profit pregnancy care center. We minister to girls that are in a crisis pregnancy situation. We also provide free pregnancy tests and sonograms, educational and parenting classes, post-abortion healing bible studies, and give out material assistance. I fill two roles there....I'm the executive assistant and event planner. My job is supposed to be executive assistant but we do not have money in the budget for someone to do fundraising planning so for the past few years I've filled that role, too.

How many jobs have you had? Lots! I've been working since I was 14...mini mart, factories, babysitting, cleaning hotel rooms, waitressing, several clerical jobs, taught middle school for 2 years, insurance claims and what I do now. I'm probably forgetting some. LOL

Do you enjoy what you are doing at the moment? It's stressful but I love it. I do not like the fundraising part, but I absolutely love the ministry.

If you could have any job what would you do? I'd love to stay in this line of ministry work..but make more money. <3

Do you work? (I know for some that's a complicated question, and yes SAHM is a job)

Yes, I'm a software analyst and still teach dance part time.

How many jobs have you had?

Goodness, I don't know. Other than this one, anything else was in college. I think I worked 2 different places during those years. I've been at my current job since I was just out of college.

Do you enjoy what you are doing at the moment?

For the most part (I've been there long enough!). Some days are really stressful.

If you could have any job what would you do?

SAHM

Do you work? (I know for some that's a complicated question, and yes SAHM is a job)

Yes, I'm currently on maternity leave till May (I've been out since August last year), but I'm a speech-language pathologist in an acute care hospital. I do mostly dysphagia (swallowing disorder) evaluations and treatments. I of course do speech, language and cognitive evaluations/treatments but the bulk of my work is on dysphagia.

How many jobs have you had?
Three. I was a medical social worker before going back to grad school. Before I started working full time for my current hospital, I worked part-time at an acute rehabilitation facility where I do mostly speech/language/cognitive therapy with patients with head injuries and stroke. I love dysphagia but it's nice to sit down in an office and do some serious speech therapy. Unfortunately I had to give that up after moving, as well as getting a full time job at my hospital.

Do you enjoy what you are doing at the moment?
I love being at home with my boys, but I'm not sure I'm cut out to be a SAHM. I'm pretty sure I'll be heading back to work in May, although I'm hoping to negotiate for shorter hours.

If you could have any job what would you do?
I love what I do so wouldn't change it. :)
