I think it has something to do with the 18th and 19th, since those numbers don't repeat. But I can't logic my way to it.

I was thinking that since those numbers don't repeat, you have to rule out those days (and thus, those months), leaving you with July and August...

That would make more sense, since one guy figured out the answer based on the other guy's information. That narrows it down more.

OK...so would you also have to eliminate the 14th, since that date repeats in July and August...?

I think I got it.
I'll just sit and wait for the answer...

Is it bad that I didn't even read the question and just assumed I would have no clue?
When I was struggling with word problems our neighbor, a retired math teacher, came to help. The question was about the area of a garden and gave specific plans and such. The guy grumbled and said "in the real world, you'd just grab your tape measure and figure out the space you have and plant the dang vegetables!" He stopped helping me after that, lol.

You think that little problem with Cheryl was bad???
Here what I found on the Net (where else??) a math problem from a Russian text book. I hope this was a very old text book :)

One cockroach named Mitrofan was taking a stroll in the kitchen. First 10 cm he walked with a speed of 1 cm/sec towards North. Then he turned West and walked 50 cm in 10 seconds. He rested for 5 seconds and continued NW with speed of 2cm/sec for 20 cm. There he met the foot of a man.
