We have always had the understanding that this site is made up of adult members who should be treated as adults, so we have a fairly lax policy about language on the site. However, we have recently had quite a few reports about language used in some of the posts, and staff needs to set some basic guidelines for members to follow about what is and is not acceptable.

The general guidelines we will follow are that words you would hear on network television at 8:00 p.m. are typically acceptable, except for words or phrases that would be considered degrading, demeaning, or attacking.

For example, using the slang phrases for "illegitimate children" and/or "female dog", even though you might hear these words on network television at 8:00 p.m., will still be unacceptable because they degrade or attack others. Some leeway will be allowed for the kind of usage. For example, "Kiss my [slang word for butt]" would not be allowed because it is attacking, whereas "I hate my big [slang word for butt]" might be given leeway.

It is not acceptable to mask vulgarities with special keyboard symbols or characters, asterisks, or by using sound-alike words (for example, "shizz" would not permitted as a replacement for the s-word).

As with all site rules, staff will consider gray areas on a case-by-case basis.

Thanks in advance, and please feel free to speak with any staff member if you have questions or concerns, either directly or through the Support Forum (http://christsgarden.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=182). :)
